Earth Day for us was Doodletastic!…
Because Mother Nature deserves some appreciation, I became more environmentally responsible and ordered a new kitchen trash bin set – one side designed especially for recyclable products. #Ifeelproud
Later that morning we headed out to spend the day with three of our favorite pet loving places, organizations and bloggers!…
- Pet Supplies Plus – our favorite place for toys, treats, hugs and meeting new friends. #humanandfurry
- Go Pet Friendly – friends that now feel like family after the March Madness Best City for Pet Travelers Tournament last year.
- Charleston Animal Society – my new “go-to” place to share toys, treats and food for those animals awaiting a forever home.
THE PERFECT STORM –
Go Pet Friendly has officially started their “Ultimate Pet Friendly Road Trip” – 10 months, 48 States experiencing one A-mazing adventure. They spent “Earth Day” at the Charleston Animal Society for a Re-home, Re-love, Rescue Event…
When Amy Burkett messaged me a few weeks ago to let me know Charleston was one of their East Coast stops, I marked our calendar looking forward to connecting with her again.
Amy met Harley last year during the tournament, but she’d never had the pleasure of a few licks and tail wags from Jaxson…
The love connection was instant…
Amy and Rod shared tips and information about traveling with your pets. There were live demo’s, giveaways, and raffle prizes for incredible travel gear along with a live Q&A session on the Charleston Animals Society’s FB page.
CHARLESTON ANIMAL SOCIETY –
In 2012 Charleston built the first no kill community in the Southeast, something many thought was unrealistic. #NoKillNoHarmNoMore
Three years later, they are now recognized as a –
national model in animal shelter excellence.
MORE THAN JUST A SHELTER –
I had no idea Charleston Animal Society offered training classes throughout the year.
Four levels of obedience training, as well as speciality classes –
- Tricks (novice dog obedience)
- Rowdy Reactive Rovers (intensive dog training)
- Pet Therapy Prep
Can’t wait to learn more about trick training for Harley and Pet Therapy Prep for Jaxson. I would love to become more involved – I’d like for the Boys and I to support and help them as much as we can. #jointhemovement
PETS SUPPLIES PLUS –
Because it was “Earth Day” – they encouraged everyone to bring paper towel tubes, tube socks, and plastic Easter eggs – they planned to recycle them into enrichment items for the dogs and cats!
I looked, but you know how it is after you move – you purge – I had nothing 🙁 #oops!
My Doodle cupboards had no extra dog food, treats or unused dog toys to share. I took a chance and gave Pets Supplies Plus a call and they were happy to donate a few things if we didn’t mind coming to the store…
Thanks to the friendliest staff in the land, we had wonderful treats and food to take with us compliments of Pet Supplies Plus…
IT WAS A GREAT DAY! –
Although we were only there for a short time, the foot traffic was steady and the dogs available for adoption looked healthy, happy, and ready for forever homes…
It’s always nice to re-connect with old friends…
…and meet new ones (even if they’re cardboard impawsonators)…
But it’s truly pawsome – to help others when you can…

Emma that house on wheels is incredible. I wanted to peek inside but didn’t ask. Ty and Buster aren’t too keen on other dogs in their space. But I’m sure it was pawsome inside.

Has it really been a year since the March Madness Best Pet Friendly City Tournament?? That was fun last year! Glad I got to help Charleston win! The road trip sounds like fun for Amy & Rod. Glad you were able to meet up with them again! (Looks like Jaxson is feeling better – doodletastic!)
I like Pet Supplies Plus, too, though I don’t go in their very often. I’m afraid I’ll spend too much money!

It has really been a year. Yes, you did help us win. Towards the end it was nail biting to say the least! It was nice to see them again – it just wasn’t enough time. But I’m confident our paths will cross again.

Hooray, you got to spend some time at the Road Trip event. It looks like a lot of fun.
And how special that you got some donated goodies for the shelter.
Our local SPCA in Ithaca also offered great training classes. Prices were steeply discounted for dogs adopted from there but everyone was welcome. It’s where Honey took nose work classes.
So glad you’re looking at some classes for Harley and Jaxson. I always find a group class lots of fun and I always learn something new.

It was wonderful to see them again. We tried hard to link up for a meal and a good glass of wine, but we couldn’t seem to make it work. Next time – I have faith. I enjoy classes with the Boys – you’re right, we learn something and we meet interesting people sharing the same love for pets. It’s a win all around.
