The NFL is doing their best to force the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys to have one of the best rivalries in the league, pairing the NFC East foes up for yet another week one Sunday Night Football showdown in Dallas. Of course, the Giants were responsible for two of the NFC East Champion’s only three losses in 2016 – so naturally the trash talk has already begun between two big-name players on both sides.

Cowboys WR Dez Bryant was a big reason for Dallas’ struggles offensively in both meetings against the Giants, thanks to Giants CB Janoris Jenkins. A key piece to their highly paid but highly talented defense, the Giants broke the bank on Jenkins entering the season and got the results they wanted against Bryant.

With a combined two receptions for 18 yards against Jenkins and the Giants, it is somewhat fair to say that Dez Bryant’s now-deleted tweet seen below was a bit out of line.

No matter what the Giants did to the Cowboys defensively, they came away with two wins over Dak Prescott – first in his debut and later at home in Prescott’s worst performance of the season in week 14.

It is also safe to say that the Cowboys feel they’re just hitting their peak as an offensive juggernaut led by rookies at QB and RB in 2016. Few in Cowboys Nation would bet the under on Dallas scoring a combined 26 points against the Giants this season, but as always the games are sure to feature plenty of drama.

As ESPN Staff Writer Jordan Raanan writes best here:

It’s all just Twitter fingers and means nothing at this point. The Giants and Cowboys were already an intense divisional rivalry.

This drama and trash talk between Dez Bryant and Janoris Jenkins has already begun, 140 days away from kickoff at AT&T Stadium. We love you so much, NFC East.
