A 29-year-old pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car Friday evening on Milwaukee's northwest side.

Milwaukee police said the pedestrian was crossing N. Sherman Boulevard at W. Douglas Ave., about three-fourths of a mile north of W. Silver Spring Drive, at 8:45 p.m. when a Ford Edge hit him. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said in a tweet Saturday morning.

The SUV's driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said. The names of the pedestrian and driver have not been released. Police didn't specify who was at fault for the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
