Prep roundup: Palmetto Ridge softball wins CCAC title with victory over Lely

The Palmetto Ridge High School softball team beat Lely 6-2 on the road Thursday night, winning the Collier County Athletic Conference title.

The Bears overcame a 2-1 deficit in the top of the seventh inning with a two-run single by Markie Rosenbalm and a two-run double by Sami Hamilton-Creel.

Baylee Haggard picked up the win, allowing two runs on 10 hits, while striking out three in seven innings.

"Wow what a game on Lely's Senior Night," Palmetto Ridge coach Brian Creel said. "I want to thank head coach Rich Costante and Lely softball for also recognizing our seniors, a real class act."

Palmetto Ridge (14-9) hosts St. John Neumann on Friday at 6 p.m.

SEACREST 13, COMMUNITY SCHOOL OF NAPLES 4: Ryleigh Howell led the Stingrays with four hits. Annabelle Melo hit a double and a triple, while Emily Wisser and Jay Toledo each had two hits for Seacrest.

Katey Ryan picked up the win, pitching five innings.

BASEBALL

ST. JOHN NEUMANN 12, COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN 2: St. John Neumann scored 11 runs on 10 hits in the top of the sixth inning to secure the victory.

Sean Lyons led the Celtics, hitting three doubles, including two RBIs. Thomas Balboni hit a pair singles, a double, had two RBIs and scored two runs. Pierre Eaton and Blaine Major also had multiple hits and combined to score three runs.

Marcon Harding picked up the win, facing four batters in 1 1/3 innings.

St. John Neumann (17-4) hosts Southwest Florida Christian on Friday at 4 p.m.

SEACREST 8, LELY 2: Erick Chavez led the Stingrays, hitting three singles and recording four RBIs. Lenny Pietersz hit a pair of singles, was walked and had two RBIs.

Matt DiNorcia picked up the win, surrendering one hit in four innings of relief.

Seacrest (15-8) is at Riverdale on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

SOUTH FORT MYERS 11, CAPE CORAL 1: No stats provided.

South Fort Myers is at LaBelle on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
