• A service dog in training ran off after TSA required its leash and harness to be removed in order to go through screening in Orlando. A TSA spokesperson says “that the dog’s vest should not have been removed and that the agent will be retrained” however their overall message is tough noogies:

  

• With United’s mess over denying boarding to a passenger on Sunday night, getting dragged off a plane, and becoming a public relations debacle all the way in China, American Airlines is offering an interesting status match deal in the Hong Kong market. I take it as coincidental especially since American doesn’t extend this to China and they do fly to Beijing and Shanghai.

  Hong Kong residents who book a Hong Kong departure in the next four months can have Star Alliance or Skyteam status matched to AAdvantage. What’s unique is that they will also match recently lost status in another oneworld frequent flyer program.

• Boeing backs the President’s proposed ‘border adjustment tax’ even though such a tax increases the cost of components for Boeing jets and makes them less competitive with Airbus, of course Boeing doesn’t want to cross the Administration given its huge military contracts and of course they want the Administration to push forward subsidies from the Export-Import Bank. Ironically, the Administration’s (and Doug Parker’s!) last criticism was that Boeing’s prices are too high…
