Sheriff's deputies in Dane County responding to a man's drug overdose Tuesday used Narcan to revive the man's wife, who passed out as they were treating the man.

The woman called 911 shortly before 3:30 p.m. to report that her husband had overdosed in a vehicle in the 5700 block of Portage Road in the Town of Burke, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Deputies revived the man with four doses of Narcan,  a drug used to treat opioid overdoses, before administering three doses to his wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle and who became unresponsive while speaking with them, the sheriff's office said.

Both were hospitalized, and charges against the couple were pending Tuesday night, according to the release.
