Social Scene: 18 students compete in Chess K-12

The mission of Chess K-12 is expanded to include all of Collier County.

The main purpose now is to promote intramural chess battles through all schools (and homeschool) in Collier County.

Saturday March 25, chess players competed over five rounds at the Marco branch library. All 18 received medallions. Tournament directors are Wade Keller of Chess K-12 and Ana Wieser, teacher and chess coach at Lely High School.

The last tournament on Saturday, March 25, had 18 students competing.

The next tournament at Marco Library will be on April 22, registration at 9:15 a.m. All students K-12 are invited. There is no charge.
