March 2017 Beauty Favourites

This year is zipping past, I feel like I blink and we are into another month - apparently it is a sign of getting old. With Spring in the air, I have felt a little more rejuvenated and willing to try some products that are typically outside of my comfort zone. Let me share what I have been enjoying lately...

Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse
You don't need me to tell you that this is the cleanser of the moment and I can personally vouch that it is all substance with plenty of style: a well sized and thought out dual cleansing system, that is as close to suit all and fool proof as you will find for such a reasonable price. This takes the fuss out of cleansing, all the while really catering to the skin - it cleanses, softens and protects. I'm on my second tub and honestly couldn't be without it - a cult classic in the making. Find it here (worldwide) - link.

L'Oréal Pure Clay Detox Mask
Once a week, I like to pop on a charcoal based face mask to really deep cleanse my skin and clarify my complexion on the whole. In the past, I did believe that you had to spend a pretty penny to find a decent face mask but the new L'Oréal range has really proved this theory to be wrong. It cleanses, clears and makes light work of my often clogged and blemish prone face. I have just ordered another jar and the other two new L'Oréal Pure Clay face masks as part of the current Boots 3 for 2 skincare offer so expect a full review and comparison post in the coming weeks. Zelens Daily Defence Sunscreen SPF30
With the sun currently shining on the streets of Glasgow, sunscreen has been of the upmost importance over the last few days. I do of course apply a high SPF every day and as such I have grown to be both fussy and demanding. At the moment I am really enjoying Zelens Daily Defence Sunscreen SPF30 - as you can see from my now depleted tube - : it is lightweight, non-greasy, somewhat moisturising and does not interfere with any make-up applied on top. It truly is a great, everyday option. It is available here (worldwide) - link.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer
I'm a late comer to this foundation but better late than never; yes it is full coverage but bizarrely comfortable and lightweight. There is not a blemish, open pore nor general skin complaint that this can't cover with ease and the nifty doe-foot applicator really makes under-eye application a breeze. My only complaint is that this formula does tend to oxidise on my oily skin after 8 hours or so of wear, so I do reserve this for half days rather than full 12 hour make-up shifts. Burt's Bees Lipstick in Blush Basin
I'm sure by now you've seen the newly launched Burt's Bees lipsticks everywhere and as such you no doubt have a few shades to buy scribbled on a note pad somewhere? If Blush Basin isn't topping such edit, I beg you to reconsider and try the mid toned, neutral yet almost peachy nude out for yourself. It has the capacity to both optically plump the lips, moisturise and brighten the complexion overall. I swear by it and reach for it when I want a quick, comfortable, slick of colour. MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finish in Beaming Blush
This is slowly but surely becoming my favourite highlighter of all time: a soft, peachy-pink with golden undertones that both illuminates and brightens the skin. I like that the texture is forgiving (it will not sit in fine lines nor open pores), lightweight and yet long wearing, it can also be applied both in bold strokes or buffed out for a gentle but glistening finish. You've got to try this for yourself. Find it here - link.

Jo Malone Myrhh & Tonka Cologne Intense
Will I ever stop raving about this delightful fragrance? Probably not: it is sexy yet subtle, empowering and yet not overtly loud, and altogether a wonderful unisex scent. I will and do apply this at every given opportunity and bask in the glory of the never ending compliments. As you may have noticed my bottle is a little on the fancy side, this is the limited edition packaging that hits the shelves any day soon but if you can't wait that long, the original and classic bottle is available nationwide. You can get it here - link.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Birthday Suit
I've been binge watching the Kardashians and as such I've had a huge craving for white nails - those ladies sure know how to rock a light nail - and as such I have been constantly wearing Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Birthday Suit. This isn't a true white, rather it is slightly grey in tone - a stone shade almost - meaning that it doesn't fully wash me out and yet looks, simple, classic and dare I say super chic. You can shop all the shades here - link.
