Prep roundup: Immokalee boys lacrosse routs Palmetto Ridge

Bryan Reyes and Marc Galindo recorded five goals and one assist each, leading the Immokalee High School boys lacrosse team to a 20-1 win at home over Palmetto Ridge.

“Great team win tonight,” Indians coach Scott Rickard said. “We were able to get some of the young guys in tonight.”

Immokalee’s Moises Ramirez had four goals and two assists, and Ismael Nicolas scored two goals and tallied one assist. Jesus Ramirez scored two goals for the Indians, Nathan Valdez had one goal and two assists, Ariel Perez had one goal and one assist, and Robert Mendoza and Juan Chavez each recorded two assists.

Immokalee (10-6) will host Miami-Florida Christian on Friday at 5 p.m. Palmetto Ridge (3-12-1) will visit Community School on Thursday.

NAPLES 17, LELY 2: Hunter Thornhill and Christian Drouin each scored four goals and picked up five assists in the Golden Eagles’ win over Lely. Alec Sanders scored three goals for Naples and goalie Zeb Fuller added one goal while making nine saves in the net.

Naples will visit Gulf Coast on Thursday at 7 p.m.  Lely will visit Golden Gate on Thursday at 7 p.m.

GULF COAST 18, BISHOP VEROT 9: The Sharks doubled up on the Vikings on the road. Luke Curran put four goals through and picked up one assist for Gulf Coast. Christian Holland and Jesse Ball each added three goals and two assists, and Nate Elgin and Chase Schroder scored two goals apiece.

Gulf Coast will host Naples on Thursday.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL 16, FORT MYERS 7: Chris Kastroll scored six goals and dished out one assist, leading the Seahawks to a win on the road. Robert DeVito had four goals and one assist for Community School, Landon Micelle had three goals and two assists, Mike Binkowski had two goals, and Trent Bell added one goal.

“This was, quite simply, the best and smartest display of lacrosse I have ever seen this team play,” Seahawks coach Rich Lewton said.

According Lewton, Zannos Grekos anchored the team’s defense.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NAPLES 15, LELY 0: Sophia Chickering and Tyler Leon led the Golden Eagles in the win, each scoring three goals. Marlee Gaddy found the net twice, while Mikayla Shust, Alyssa Dehnz, Tallulah Bowden, Sophie Sullinger, Caroline Scherder, Bailey Hill and Karson Biggs each scored once.

Sullinger led the team in assists with five.

Naples (13-2) hosts Riverdale on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

BARRON COLLIER 17, LAKE BRANTLEY 4: Jo Imbriani led the Cougars in Saturday’s win, scoring four goals. Emily Browne, Jaclyn Berry and Julia Alessi found the net three times, while Madison Ryan and Cami Lange found the net once on Saturday.

BARRON COLLIER 18, MARTIN COUNTY 8: Browne led the Cougars in Saturday’s victory, scoring five goals. Berry added four goals. Imbriani had three goals and a team high three assists. Lange and Julianna Derby found the net twice, while Ryan and Elise Paolini scored once on Saturday.

Barron Collier (15-0) is at American Heritage on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

BASEBALL

ST. JOHN NEUMANN 10, MOORE HAVEN 0: Andrew Roach pitch a complete-game shutout for the Celtics. Marcon Harding and Nick Kythreotis each hit a double and a single, and they combined for five RBIs.

St. John Neumann (11-3) will host Gateway Charter on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

SEACREST 17, OASIS 2: The Stingrays’ Lenny Pieterzs went 4 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs, leading Seacrest to a rout over Oasis. Josue Rivera had three hits, including a home run for Seacrest, and also pitched two innings to earn the win. Erick Chavez had two singles and a home run for the Stingrays, Andrew Miller had a single and two doubles, and Matt DiNorcia and Matt Hurley recorded three singles each.

Seacrest (8-5) will host Community School on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

GULF COAST 10, SOUTH FORT MYERS: Jaime Soto had two hits and three RBIs in the Sharks' win over the Wolfpack. Emil Valenzuela and Niels Stone each added two hits and two RBIs, and Stone picked up the win after pitching five innings.

Gulf Coast (13-3) will visit Naples on Thursday at 7 p.m. South Fort Myers (12-5) will host Riverdale on Thursday at 7 p.m.

ESTERO 12, NAPLES 2: No stats available.

PALMETTO RIDGE 17, EAST LEE COUNTY 5: Austin Quinones homered and drove in three runs during the Bears' win over East Lee. Nine other players also drove in runs for Palmetto Ridge, and 11 different players scored. Adrian Soler picked up the win after pitching two innings and recording two strikeouts.

Palmetto Ridge (9-5) will host Estero on Thursday at 7 p.m.

SOFTBALL

PALMETTO RIDGE 15, EAST LEE COUNTY 13: Palmetto Ridge tied the game at 13 in the top of the eighth inning and scored two runs in the ninth to take the win.

Mikayla DeSear led the Bears’ offense, finishing with four hits, including a triple and a pair of doubles. Emily Katz also had four hits. Savannah Nocera finished with three hits, including a pair of doubles. Sami Hamilton-Creel also recorded three hits. Markie Rosenbalm, Jessica Presti, Lynndsey Dixon and Jaden Montalvo each had two hits, and Tori Macino hit a triple for Palmetto Ridge.

Palmetto Ridge (10-3) hosts Estero on Thursday at 7 p.m.

LELY 13, GOLDEN GATE 0: April Alvarado led the Trojans’ offense, going 3 for 4, with six RBIs, including a pair of home runs. Lily Manning went 3 for 4, with three RBIs, including a triple and a homer. Sivan Palacios went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Bianca Palacios finished 3 for 3 with a double for Lely.

Sivan Palacios picked up the win, surrendering one hit and striking out five in five innings.

“It's always nice getting the first district win,” Lely coach Rich Costante said. “Golden Gate came out tonight and gave us a tough game. That pitcher did a nice job early to keep us guessing. We had to change our approach and we made some good adjustments tonight at the plate. Defensively we played well and Sivan (Palacios) pitched a great game. We hopefully will get healthy soon so we can continue to battle through our tough district.”

Lely (9-5) hosts Clewiston on Thursday at 7 p.m.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL 16, DONAHUE CATHOLIC 0: Olivia Weiss, Ryan Crosby and Riley Lamon each had RBIs for the Seahawks. Elly Beshears had two hits, while Harper Pertchik and Crosby recorded one hit.

Beshears picked up the win, striking out eight in three innings.

BOYS TENNIS

NAPLES 7, GOLDEN GATE 0: Connor Jaffe and Garnel Guerrier each picked up singles wins, then teamed up for a doubles victory, leading the Golden Eagles to a win over the Titans.

“Golden Gate has a young and growing program,” Naples coach Tony Kamen said. “Great sportsmanship was exhibited on all courts by both teams.”

Michael Moll, Mason Anderson and Dalton Daniels also picked up wins in singles play for Naples, and Mathew Anderson and Griffin Alexander won in doubles.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL 7, GULF COAST 0: Zach Schiller came from behind for a 4-6, 6-1(11-9) win at the No. 1 singles position, leading the Seahawks to a sweep over the Sharks. Sebastian Dounchis, Matt Ferrante, Justin Braverman and Wes Blabey each picked up singles wins in straight sets. Ferrante and Dounchis teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles, and Braverman and Blabey won at the No. 2 spot.

Community School will visit Barron Collier on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

SEACREST 5, PALMETTO RIDGE 2: Ryan Talano, Kiran Shelar and Adam Feins each won in singles and doubles play, helping the Stingrays secure a win at home. Shelar and Feins won at the No. 2 doubles position, and Talano teamed up with Tyler Myers at the No. 1 doubles spot.

“With such a young team, I am happy that three freshmen and two sophomores were able to step up and close out the win tonight against Palmetto Ridge,” Seacrest coach Louanne Fischer said.

Seacrest (5-5) will host Canterbury on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Adrian Atiles and Marcos Garcia earned singles wins for the Bears.

GIRLS TENNIS

GULF COAST 5, COMMUNITY SCHOOL 2: In singles for the Sharks, Viva Laas beat Lilly Dounchis, 6-0, 6-0. Emma Heiderscheit won 6-1, 6-1 over Katy Wells, and Shale Bouchard topped AJ Massoll, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Laas and Bouchard won 6-0, 6-1 over Wells and Dounchis, while  Heiderscheit and her partner beat Massoll and Brooke Jaffe, 6-3, 6-1.

"We did some things very well this evening and there are some things we still need to work on,” Gulf Coast coach Mark Voorhees said. “Community School is a top-tier team in the state of Florida."

“Well, all good things must come an end,” Community School coach Joy Frederick said. “Gulf Coast gave us our first loss of the season. They were just a better team today. Jennifer Labs gets the MVP for stepping into the No. 5 singles and getting us a point. Brooke Jaffe continues her undefeated singles season. All the girls tried their best. I am still very proud of them.”

SEACREST 5, PALMETTO RIDGE 2: In singles for the Stingrays, Alegra d’Alessandro beat Dominique Gay 6-0, 6-1. Amanda Covelli won 6-0, 6-0 over Alejandra Krommenhoek, and Vivian Ralston topped Bella Wilson, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, d’Alessandro and Covelli won 8-6 over Gay and Krommenhoek, while Aliya Ducham and Ralston beat Jaclin Rakich and Larkin Martinez, 8-2.

“After a couple of off games (with) our game against Firs Baptist cancelled due to lightning strikes and then our loss to Baron Collier, Seacrest regained (its) sea legs,” Seacrest coach Antonio Balson said.

BARRON COLLIER 4, IMMOKALEE 3: The Cougars picked up four singles victories, as Alana Sandy beat Mardochee Bellevue 6-3,6-1. Marta de Haro topped Emma Tomas Matias, 6-1,6-2. Jacquelyn Kisic won 6-0, 6-3 over Yahaira Caceres, and Amy Felciano defeated Soniese Paul, 6-0,6-4.

“It is always a pleasure hosting the Immokalee girls,” Barron Collier coach Nancy Geiman said. “Six (Barron Collier) girls who played today, had never played tennis before the season and competing in a match that counts, (it) was a brand new experience. It's not easy and I hope it inspires those who lost to dedicate themselves more and work harder. Super win by another rookie, Amy (Felciano), at No. 5 singles.”

Barron Collier is at Venice on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
