Motorcyclist dies in fall from seat

Sheriff was one of first on the scene and administered CPR

A motorcyclist was killed late Saturday on New Mexico Highway 37.

Sheriff Robert Shepperd said he arrived on the scene and administered CPR for about 15 minutes until the ambulance arrived.

According to the official report from the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, at about 6:24 p.m., State Police officers were dispatched to the 13-mile marker on NM 37 in reference to a fatal motorcycle crash.

The initial investigation indicated that a northbound motorcycle was driven by Nathaniel Sanchez, 24, from Las Cruces, and that he attempted to stand on the seat of that motorcycle, Public Information Officer Sgt. Chad Pierce said. Sanchez lost his balance and fell, sustaining fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
