Dropped passes make Vols repeat drills

The Tennessee football team held its fourth spring practice on Tuesday and second in pads.

Too many dropped passes caused the Tennessee football team to have to repeat a period of practice on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vols held their second spring practice in pads and first with portions open to the media.

After too many balls hit the grass, coach Butch Jones made the team repeat the drill until the Vols got it right.

Other observations:

  • Tight end Ethan Wolf’s goal of not dropping any passes didn’t last extremely long. The senior had a pass slip off his fingers early in drills.
  • All of the quarterbacks received the same number of throws in the early drills open to the media.
  • Former NFL coach and Knoxville resident Jerry Glanville visited practice. Glanville, who also coached at Portland State, hugged new quarterbacks coach Mike Canales and new defensive line coach Brady Hoke. He spent a few minutes chatting at midfield with Jones during UT’s stretching period.
  •  The UT women’s tennis team attended practice, watching from under a tent near the end zone of the practice field.
