Sikich LLP said Tuesday it will acquire the business of Wauwatosa's Evolution Retirement Services, a move the firm said will strengthen its retirement planning and services offerings for clients.

Sikich LLP is acquiring the Wauwatosa firm Evolution Retirement Services.

Evolution Retirement Services provides retirement plan design and administrative services for small and midsize businesses, said Sikich, an accounting and professional services firm based in Naperville, Ill.  Evolution Retirement will bolster Sikich’s employee benefit services practice, which assists companies with benefit plan design, administration and compliance.

“Our team is skilled at helping companies develop and administer employee benefit plans that enable them to attract and retain talent,” Chris Geier, chief executive and managing partner of Sikich, said in a statement. “At the same time, we help them comply with complex regulatory requirements. The addition of Evolution Retirement Services will add depth to our employee benefit services practice and enhance the retirement planning services we offer companies across industries.”

All five Evolution Retirement employees will move to the Brookfield office of Sikich, and the Evolution Retirement office in Wauwatosa will close. Mark Maurice, president of Evolution Retirement, will join Sikich as client relationship director. The transaction is expected to close Saturday.

“This deal allows for regional expansion of our retirement plan administration services and ensures long-term stability for our employees and clients," Maurice said. "Further, Sikich’s depth of expertise across its various practice areas will enable us to offer our clients new insights and services.”

The addition of Evolution Retirement follows three acquisitions by Sikich in 2016 in the consolidating accounting industry: Brockman, Coats, Gedelian & Co., an Akron, Ohio-based firm offering audit and assurance, tax, technology and wealth management services; the Glendale, Calif.-based technology firm SCS; and Stanfield & Associates, a Downers Grove, Ill.-based accounting firm.

Sikich, founded in 1982, has more than 800 employees in the U.S.
