Weather
An active pattern virtually nationwide
Storm systems will continue to parade across the nation, maintaining mild conditions and providing heavy showers and locally severe thunderstorms; breezy weather; and (in the West) high-elevation snow. Five-day rainfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches across the central and southern Plains, and 1 to 3 inches from the Gulf Coast northward into the central and eastern Corn Belt and the Mid-Atlantic States. Across the western U.S., precipitation could total 1 to 3 inches from the Pacific Northwest to the northern and central Rockies. Despite the overall stormy regime, precipitation will largely bypass southern California, the Desert Southwest, southern Florida, and the upper Great Lakes region.
Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- to above-normal temperatures and precipitation across most of the nation. Warm weather will be most likely across the southeastern and the north-central U.S., while drier-than-normal conditions should be limited to parts of California and the upper Great Lakes region.
