WHAT TO DO IN MILWAUKEE

Things to do in Milwaukee today: March 28

In a strange twist of fate, you have a choice to see “Mr. Roboto” or an actual robot band live in Milwaukee tonight.

“Mr. Roboto” of course is one of many hits from Styx (perhaps only “Come Sail Away” is more widely known), which, like former frontman Dennis DeYoung, manages to come to Milwaukee at least once a year to play its signature songs. Tonight is that night once again, at the Riverside Theater, 116 W. Wisconsin Ave. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $19.75 to $81.

Or you can see Captured! By Robots at the Cactus Club, as part of its 20th-anniversary tour. The premise is a guy sick of playing with humans created a robot band. (That part’s true, what’s next, we think, isn’t.) But then the robots took control of the human, and force him to tour around the country in a crappy van until the “stupid human race” comes to an end. Yes, actual robots play instruments. They also subject the human member, and humans in the audience, to very cruel insults. It’s very weird, and yes, pretty fun.

Cover for the 9 p.m. show is $10.
