Oxnard police debut online crime reporting for businesses

The Oxnard Police Department has launched an online form for businesses to report crimes.

The portal is accessible on the home page of the department's website, http://www.oxnardpd.org, in the upper left corner.

The form allows users to report certain crimes, upload documents and submit suspect photos, authorities said. The crimes that can be reported using the form include theft, vandalism, non-injury accidents and hit-and-run crashes.

According to a statement released by Oxnard Police, the goal of the online form is to free up time for officers to respond to more immediate emergency calls and use uncommitted patrol time for crime prevention efforts.
