Ted Thompson willing to be patient with Letroy Guion

PHOENIX - For the second time since signing with the Green Bay Packers before the 2014 season, defensive tackle Letroy Guion is in trouble.

Guion will miss the first four games of the 2017 season while serving a suspension for his violation of the NFL’s policy against performance-enhancing drugs. He served a three-game suspension at the start of the 2015 season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Guion was arrested on drug-related charges in February 2015. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published an investigation in October of that year that detailed a list of legal issues for Guion dating to his time with the Minnesota Vikings, who drafted him in 2008.

Packers general manager Ted Thompson was asked Monday whether his continued patience with Guion despite his off-the-field issues sends a bad message to the rest of his locker room.

“I think you have to deal with those things on an individual basis,” Thompson said at the NFL owners' meetings. “In Letroy’s case, that’ll work itself out.”

The Packers added to their depth on the defensive line last week by signing free agent Ricky Jean Francois.
