Authorities arrested one person after shots reportedly were fired in an apartment near Marquette University, which prompted university police to close nearby city blocks.

No students were involved and no one was injured, officials said. University police closed off the area between N. 19th and N. 20th streets and W. Wisconsin Ave. and W. Clybourn St. As a precaution, nearby university buildings, including the Child Care Center, were locked down, according to university updates.

The "shots fired" report came from inside an apartment building in the 500 block of N. 20th St. Officers from the Marquette and Milwaukee Police Departments responded to the area.

The department had urged students to stay away from the 500 block of N. 19th St. and the 500 block of 20th St. in a Twitter posting shortly before 4 p.m.

Authorities did not release any further information about the person who was arrested, including what possible charges the individual may face.

DO NOT USE, TOO LOW-RES

The university transitioned from a Department of Public Safety model to a full-fledged police department that was in place for the 2015-'16 academic year.
