Milwaukee police ID weekend homicide victim

Milwaukee police on Monday identified a 27-year-old man who was killed in a weekend shooting.

Authorities found Zachary A. Pierce suffering from multiple gunshot wounds about 7:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of W. Medford Ave., according to police.

Milwaukee Fire Department paramedics tried to revive Pierce, but he died at the scene, officials said. Milwaukee police said Monday officers continue to seek a motive and suspects in the slaying.

So far this year, 25 people have been killed in homicides in Milwaukee, compared to 21 at the same time last year, according to preliminary data maintained by the Journal Sentinel.
