The documentary "Serial Killer Culture" focuses on America's fascination with serial killers and how they're portrayed in pop culture.

The Twisted Dreams Film Festival, Milwaukee's collection of screenings that go bump in the night, returns this weekend to the Underground Collaborative, 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., in the lower level of the Shops of Grand Avenue.

The horror-film festival, in its second year, has expanded to three days, starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. with a program of scary Wisconsin-made short films, "featuring everything from comedies, a documentary, thrillers and creepy clowns." An opening-night party follows at 9 p.m. at 42 Lounge, 326 E. Mason St.

Saturday and Sunday's full days of programming include a collection of a program of not-for-kids animated horror shorts (noon Saturday); a documentary on "Serial Killer Culture" (2 p.m. Saturday), with a panel discussion following the screening; and "This Woods Is Cursed," a Wisconsin feature about friends who awaken an ancient curse (2:30 p.m. Sunday).

Tickets are $10 for each movie or shorts program, with a $50 pass getting you into everything showing Saturday, a $30 pass for everything on Sunday, or $75 for everything showing in the festival.
