The Wisconsin men’s swimming team ended its season with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA championships in Indianapolis.

UW senior Matt Hutchins earned All-American honors by finishing fifth in the 1,650 freestyle. His time of 14 minutes 31.19 seconds lowered his school record.

UW senior Cannon Clifton finished third in the consolation final of the 100 freestyle, placing 11th overall in 42.37.

The Badgers also finished fourth in the consolation final of the 400 freestyle relay. The time of 2:50.89 was 12th overall and second-fastest in UW history.

BASEBALL

Wright State 4, UW-Milwaukee 0: The Panthers (7-14, 0-6 Horizon League) managed only two hits in the series finale against the Raiders (15-7, 6-0) in Dayton, Ohio.

Billy Quirke and John Boidanis had the only hits for UWM, which has its home opener against Illinois-Chicago on Friday.

SOFTBALL

Northwestern 5, Wisconsin 4: Anna Petersen hit a home run in the eighth inning to lift the Wildcats (12-15, 1-1 Big Ten) over the Badgers (22-3, 1-1) in Evanston, Ill.

Kelsey Jenkins and Chloe Miller each had two RBI for the Badgers.

LACROSSE

Marquette 11, Georgetown 10: Joe Dunn scored a collegiate-high four goals as the Golden Eagles (4-2) beat the Hoyas (2-7) in the teams’ Big East opener in Washington.
