Admirals 3, Moose 1: Mazanec stymies Manitoba
WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Marek Mazanec had another good day at the office.
The Milwaukee goaltender stopped 32 shots as the Admirals knocked off the Manitoba Moose, 3-1, in an American Hockey League game Friday night at the MTS Centre.
Mazanec recorded his 22nd victory of the season for the Admirals, who improved to 39-21-3-3. The only blemish on the night was a power-play goal by Manitoba’s Patrice Cormier with 4 minutes 8 seconds left in the game. He finished with 14 saves in the final period.
The netminder had a little bit of help from his friends.
After a scoreless first period, it took Trevor Smith just 40 seconds to give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.
Justin Florek lit the lamp at 11:55 of the second period to make it 2-0.
Frederick Gaudreau then tallied at 5:14 of the final period to give the Admirals a 3-0 cushion.
