Van full of children involved in Goodyear rollover crash

A serious rollover collision in Goodyear involving a van full of children sent the driver and four juveniles to hospitals Friday morning, officials said.

The 15-passenger van rolled near 159th Lane and Lower Buckeye Parkway at about 9 a.m. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Goodyear Police Department.

"First accounts have the children stable with minor injuries," said Tom Cole, spokesman for Goodyear Fire Department, "and an adult requiring extrication."

Cole said fire crews rushed the driver to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries, and four children were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

Five other children were medically evaluated at the scene and didn't need further treatment, Cole said.
