Prep roundup: St. John Neumann baseball beats Southwest Florida Christian

The St. John Neumann baseball team beat Southwest Florida Christian 6-3 on the road Thursday night.

Facing a 3-2 deficit, the Celtics scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning, as Francis Adames drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game, Marcon Harding hit a two-run single and Colton Cormier added an RBI single to seal the victory.

St. John Neumann (9-3) is at Golden Gate on Friday at 6 p.m.

PALMETTO RIDGE 1, RIVERDALE 0: Kenneth Geiger hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving the win to the Bears.

Derek Rascher picked up the win for Palmetto Ridge, surrendering three hits, while striking out eight in seven innings.

NAPLES 10, SOUTH FORT MYERS 0:  Trey Heiser and Andrew Wright led the Golden Eagles’ offense, each finishing with a pair of hits and a double.  Darius Bradley and Michael Steadman also had two hits.

Cory Berning picked up the win for Naples, surrendering four hits, while striking out five in five innings.

Naples is at Estero on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

GULF COAST 10, EAST LEE COUNTY 0: No stats provided.

BOYS LACROSSE

NAPLES 18, GOLDEN GATE 4: Alec Sanders led the Golden Eagles with five goals. Brad Howard, Christian Drouin and Hunter Thornhill each added three goals, while Zeb Fuller picked up the win, making 11 saves.

LELY 15, PALMETTO RIDGE 12: No stats provided.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NAPLES 19, GOLDEN GATE 0: Tyler Leon led the Golden Eagles in the win, with four goals and a team high five assists. Marlee Gaddy, Sophia Chickering, Karson Biggs, Taylor Carson and Sophie Sullinger each added a pair of goals, while Angela Caldwell, Emily Hugan, Bailey Hill, Helen Lista and Caroline Scherder each finished with one goal for Naples.

BARRON COLLIER 8, POTOMAC (MD.)  7: Jo Imbriani led the Cougars in the win, scoring the tie-breaking goal in overtime.

Imbriani finished with two goals, Jaclyn Berry found the net three times, while Emily Browne scored a pair of goals and lead Barron Collier in assists, with two.

SOFTBALL

PALMETTO RIDGE 8, RIVERDALE 6: Sami Hamilton-Creel hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Bears, to tie the game at four. Palmetto Ridge added three runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to seal the game.

Jessica Presti led the Bears’ offense, going 4 for 4 at the plate. Savannah Nocera and Tori Macino each had two hits.

Baylee Haggard picked up the win, allowing six runs on 10 hits, while striking out eight in seven innings.

“This was a big district win tonight especially after losing in districts to them last year 10-0,” Palmetto Ridge coach Brian Creel said. “The girls looked strong against a good Riverdale team.”

Palmetto Ridge (9-3) is at East Lee County on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

BOYS TENNIS

COMMUNITY SCHOOL 4, NAPLES 1: In singles for the Seahawks, Matt Ferrante beat Robby Mayher, 6-0, 6-1. Justin Braverman topped Connor Jaffe, 6-2, 6-1. Wes Blabey won 6-2, 6-0 over Mason Anderson, and Nick Dounchis defeated Garnel Guerrier, 6-2 6-2.

Doubles couldn’t be played due to lightning in the area.

CSN is at Gulf Coast on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

ST. JOHN NEUMANN 7, GOLDEN GATE 0: In singles for the Celtics, Daniel Martin won 6-0, 6-0. Andrew Myers beat his opponent, 6-0, 6-1. Adip Rawat topped his opponent, 6-1, 6-3. Joseph Wilton defeated his opponent, 6-3, 7-6 (4) and St. John Neumann also picked a win at the No. 5 spot.

In doubles, Martin and Myers won their match, while Rawat also won his.

St. John Neumann (3-5) is at South Fort Myers on Monday at 4 p.m.

GIRLS TENNIS

ST. JOHN NEUMANN 7, GOLDEN GATE 0: Sam Roesler, Rachel Krupka, Alexis Davis, Ana Arcenegui and Emma Milbert won their singles matches 6-0,6-0, while Anya Rawat won her singles match, 6-0 6-1 for the Celtics.

In doubles Krupka and Roesler won 8-1, while Arcenegui and Milbert won 8-0.
