Around the web: Nigel Hayes doesn't love New York

Wisconsin Badgers forward Nigel Hayes (10) speaks to the media before practice the day before the East Regional semifinals of the 2017 NCAA Tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Wisconsin senior Nigel Hayes has always said exactly what he thinks in interview settings. That approach has ruffled feathers before and will certainly do so again.

On Thursday afternoon, Hayes was asked what he might do in New York if he has a few hours free. Instead of listing off places to visit or food to eat, Hayes shared his disdain for New York City.

“I don't really like New York,” Hayes said. "It's too big, it's dirty, trash everywhere, too many people. It's cold right now."

That led to this New York Daily News headline: "Nigel Hayes trashes 'dirty' New York ahead of Wisconsin-Florida matchup in NCAA Tournament at Garden."

Hayes went on to explain that he's just in town to win some basketball games. If he happens to wind up on the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets in the future, he'll adjust accordingly.
