The Tennessee running backs go through resistance drills on Thursday during UT's second spring practice.

Redshirt freshman tight end Andrew Craig made a one-handed grab along the sideline that drew cheers from his teammates on Thursday afternoon as the University of Tennessee football team held its second spring practice.

Craig, a Webb School graduate, was running through drills during the early portion of the practice that was open to the media. A few other observations from the viewing window:

  • New strength and conditioning coach Rock Gullickson observed the quarterback drills, standing behind the quarterbacks as they took snaps. Junior quarterback Quinten Dormady was paired with offensive lineman Coleman Thomas and redshirt freshman quarterback Jarrett Guarantano was paired with Devante Brooks.
  • Among the players returning punts were: Emmanuel Moseley, Marquez Callaway and D.J. Henderson. Micah Abernathy, who had offseason shoulder surgery, stood close by taking phantom reps with the group.
  • New offensive coordinator Larry Scott remains the tight ends coach and was throwing passes to the group during drills.
  • New defensive line coach Brady Hoke was an active participant in a ball-stripping drill. Hoke was down in a stance and displaying the proper technique to rip the ball from an opposing player’s hands.
