Two women driving on Interstate 75 in Collier County on Wednesday suffered minor injuries when their car overturned after a collision with a driver who left without stopping, state troopers said.

Teri Schmunk, 24, of Port Charlotte, was driving south on I-75 in the inside lane near Golden Gate Parkway just east of Naples about 6 p.m. while another vehicle, "possibly a truck pulling a large boat trailer," was headed south on I-75 in the center lane, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. An independent witness told troopers that Schmunk's 2006 Scion veered toward the center lane and that the car's front right side collided with the rear left side of the trailer attached to the second vehicle, the report states.

The Scion then left the road and went onto the inside grass shoulder. Schmunk then overcorrected and the car rotated clockwise and overturned, landing on its roof, according to the report.

The vehicle "hauling a large boat on an oversized boat trailer" didn't stop at the scene and continued south on I-75, the report states.

Schmunk and her passenger, Ashley Alfonso, 23, of North Port, were taken to a Physician's Regional hospital with minor injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol asked that anyone with information about the crash call FHP at 239-344-1730.
