Guess Which Cruise Line is Raising Gratuities…Again?

Norwegian Jade docks in Menorca, Spain

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it’s raising the cost of their gratuities next month. April 1 to be exact.

While it won’t break the bank, the new rate will go from $13,50 per person per day to $13.99 pppd. This applies to any category of stateroom from inside to mini-suite. Guests in full suites or the Haven will see their gratuities increase from $15.50 to $16.99, an increase of $1.49 per person per day.

It’s an across the board raise that applies to all of their ships, except for the Norwegian Sky. Their oldest ship, Norwegian Sky does short cruises from Miami, including some cruises to Cuba.

The reason for the unique gratuity increase is that cruises aboard Norwegian Sky are open bar. Yes, for the entire cruise. As of April 1, gratuities on Norwegian Sky will be $18.99 per person per day from inside to mini-suites. Book a suite category and gratuities become $21.99 per person per day.

If you’re planning a Norwegian cruise and book it by March 31, 2017, you can still prepay your gratuities at the existing rate if you do so before the cruise begins. If you have an existing booking and prepaid your gratuities, you are golden and the price will not increase.
