Fox analyst has RB Cook going to Lions in first round

The Detroit News

Peter Schrager, who writes for Fox Sports and works for the NFL Network, has a two-round mock draft out but he doesn’t have the Lions taking a defensive player until the second round.

At No. 21, Schrager has Detroit selecting Florida State running back Dalvin Cook, who he calls: “A home run hitter who can run inside and outside the tackles.”

Michigan fans know all about Cook, who starred in the Seminoles’ Orange Bowl victory over the Wolverines.

In Round 2, Schrager has the Lions taking Alabama defensive end Tim Williams, a first-round talent who has had off-the-field problems.

The most surprising part of Schrager’s draft is Michigan safety Jabrill Peppers is the only local player picked to go in the first round. Peppers is slotted at No. 17 for Washington.

Schrager has receiver Corey Davis of Western Michigan going to the 49ers at No. 34, Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton to the Chargers at No. 38, Michigan State defensive tackle Malik McDowell to the Eagles at No. 43, Michigan cornerback Jourdan Lewis to the Colts at No. 46 and Michigan tight end Jake Butt to the Giants at No. 55. .Iowa cornerback Desmond King (East English Village) is picked to go to the Chiefs at No. 59.
