Trey Smith will start his college career at left tackle.
But he won’t necessarily start at left tackle.
Those two sentences sound a lot alike, but they couldn’t be more different, as new Tennessee offensive line coach Walt Wells said Tuesday afternoon with a big laugh.
“He’ll start off at left tackle,” Wells said during his first interview as the Vols’ offensive line coach. “No, he will not start. But he’ll start off at left tackle, and then we’ll see where he goes as the spring goes on.”
