The SEC tournament will begin in a few days time — March 8 to be exact — and University of Kentucky basketball fans will soon descend upon Nashville

Kentucky may have finished the regular season at the top spot in the SEC and No. 8 in the regular season coaches' poll, but we think when it come to comparing the two states, Tennessee comes out on top with plenty to do.

Here's why:

1. Hot chicken

Nashville hot chicken vs. Kentucky-fried chicken. Hot chicken wins. Kentucky fans should check out Prince's Chicken Shack, the birth place of hot chicken, or Hattie B's if they want to experience how chicken should taste. Prince's is located at 123 Ewing Dr. and Hattie B's closest location to Bridgestone Arena is 112 19th Ave. S.

2. Whiskey

Kentucky may have bourbon, but Tennessee has whiskey. There are 26 whiskey distilleries in the state according to the Tennessee Distillers Guild. The Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg is open daily 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

3. Professional sports teams

Not only is Bridgestone Arena home of the SEC tournament, it is also home to the Nashville Predators, one of Tennessee's three professional sports teams. Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, is also in downtown Nashville at One Titans Way.

4. Country music

Country music beats out bluegrass, and it reigns supreme in Tennessee. With Broadway lined with honky tonks and live music, the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame, there is no shortage of places to get your country music fix. Visit the Country Music Hall of Fame at 222 Fifth Ave. S. which is open daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
