Emotional moment of the night: Trump recognizes widow of Navy SEAL

President Trump took the time to recognize Carryn Owens, the widow of William "Ryan" Owens, during his speech on Tuesday.

Owens died during the January commando raid in Yemen that targeted the al-Qaeda terrorist network. The military is conducting at least three reviews of the raid.

We're willing to bet that there wasn't a dry eye in the House (pun intended).

Trump's words:

"We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens, the widow of a U.S. Navy Special Operator, Senior Chief William 'Ryan' Owens.  Ryan died as he lived:  a warrior, and a hero — battling against terrorism and securing our Nation.

" I just spoke to General Mattis, who reconfirmed that, and I quote, 'Ryan was a part of a highly successful raid that generated large amounts of vital intelligence that will lead to many more victories in the future against our enemies.'  Ryan's legacy is etched into eternity.  For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one's life for one's friends.  Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom — we will never forget him."

Following this moment, there was a long standing ovation and the cameras focused on Carryn Owens, seated next to Ivanka Trump, as she cried and clasped her hands.

Does anyone have a tissue?

Tuesday night wasn't the first time the president memorialized William "Ryan" Owens, who was the first U.S. service member to die during the Trump administration. In early February, Trump made an unannounced trip to a Delaware military base to receive the Navy SEAL's remains.
