Andrew Joseph

Dakota College at Bottineau won Sunday's NJCAA national title game against Erie Community College, but the game came to an unexpected end after a violent outburst from an Erie player.

Late in the third period, freshman Brandon Day stormed out of the penalty box and went straight for an official, leveling the referee hard to the ice.

With Dakota College up, 7-4, officials called the game.

According to WKBW, Day was taken into custody by the police and was later arrested.

Day's outburst came after Erie allowed three straight goals.
