Stolen vehicle recovered; arrest made at motel

Ventura police said they recovered a stolen vehicle and made an arrest Saturday in the parking lot of a local motel.

Just before 4:35 p.m. Saturday, an officer was patrolling the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn, 5818 Valentine Road, when he saw a parked vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Santa Barbara. He was also aware the vehicle had been used in a crime of vandalism on Feb. 18 and that a suspect wanted in that crime had been identified as Christian Frias, 23, or Oxnard, according to the Ventura Police Department.

Additional officers responded to assist, and all three occupants of the vehicle were detained, police said. Frias was determined to be the driver, according to authorities.

Frias was arrested and booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, vandalism and a parole violation, police said.

The vehicle was returned to the owner.
