Police arrested a Ventura resident on suspicion of committing a robbery, among other crimes, authorities said.

Police were contacted at 4:50 p.m. Friday by the suspect's grandmother, who said he was threatening to break down the door to their residence and harm his grandfather, authorities said.

By the time police arrived, the grandson had fled, authorities said. While officers conducted an investigation, he called the grandmother's cellphone and made threats to the investigating officer, police said. When police searched for the suspect, they spotted him at an apartment complex at 3700 Dean Drive, according to authorities.

As officers began their search for the suspect, they were contacted by additional victims from Anacapa Middle School, who reported that someone had stolen a skateboard and placed the victim in a chokehold and threatened another victim with a weapon, authorities said.

Officers arrived in the area with a K9 unit and found the suspect, who continued fleeing, police said. With the assistance of the police dog, the suspect was taken into custody, police said.

The suspect was identified as Skylar Martin, 18, of Ventura, authorities said. The victims of the robbery and weapon threat identified Martin as the person who committed those crimes, according to police.

A police officer and Martin were taken to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of their minor injuries. After getting medically cleared, Martin was booked into county jail on suspicion of several felony charges, including second-degree robbery, criminal threats, resisting an executive officer and assault with a deadly weapon, police said. There also was an existing warrant for his arrest on suspicion of residential burglary committed while he was a juvenile, according to authorities.

Martin's bail was set for $1 million and a court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
