Black smoke and flames could be seen from Grand Avenue in Phoenix as a first-alarm fire broke out at a warehouse the morning of Feb. 25, 2017.

Phoenix fire crews responded to a first-alarm industrial complex fire near Grand Avenue on Saturday morning, but were able to quickly put the fire out.

The blaze, reported at about 11 a.m., occurred at a mattress and cabinetry store in the 4400 block of north 39th Avenue near Indian School Road and Grand Avenue.

“It burned rather quickly, rather hot" due to the materials inside the commercial building, said Phoenix Fire Capt. Mark Vanacore.

About 50 firefighters helped attack the fire from the outside. The fire did not spread to any other building and was contained quickly. There were no injuries reported. It is unknown if the business was in operation at the time of the fire.

The cause is under investigation by the Phoenix Fire Department.
