Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield arrested in Arkansas

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was arrested Saturday morning in Arkansas.

Mayfield finished fourth In Heisman voting in 2015 and third in 2016.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Mayfield was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, fleeing and resisting arrest.

The Oklahoman reported Mayfield had been released on bond Saturday afternoon.

According to police officer notes of the incident, Mayfield told an officer responding to an assault and battery report he was trying to break up the altercation. The report says Mayfield was asked to stay in the area for a statement, but he was yelling profanities can causing a scene.

At that point the officer said he asked Mayfield to come to him. Mayfield allegedly responded by fleeing. The officer said he tackled Mayfield and after difficulty placed the quarterback in handcuffs.

"We are aware of the matter and are learning the details. We don't have any other information at this time," Oklahoma said in a statement.

Mayfield finished third in Heisman Trophy voting in 2016, throwing 38 touchdown passes for the Sooners. He began his college career at Texas Tech.
