Jeff Moberg's solo home run ignited a ninth-inning rally, sparking Tennessee to an 8-4 win over San Diego State on Friday night in the Tony Gwynn Classic in San Diego.

The Vols (5-1) and the Aztecs were tied 4-4 after eight innings. Tennessee scored four times in the top of the ninth, then Jon Lipinski sat the Aztecs down in the bottom of the inning to record his first win of the season.

Moberg was 4-of-5 for the game, which followed a 12-5 win over Seton Hall earlier Friday.

Tennessee concludes the tournament Saturday against UC Irvine at 5 p.m. EST.

After Moberg's home run made it 5-4, Benito Santiago, Andre Lipcius and Dom Thornton added hits in the rally. Thornton and Brodie Leftridge each had two hits as the Vols pounded 14 hits.

Zach Warren started and lasted 3.1 innings. Lipinski was the fourth Tennessee pitcher, taking over with one out in the eighth. He allowed no hits and struck out three.

Freshman Jay Charleston had an RBI single during a three-run fourth inning.
