MU 80, Georgetown 70: Balanced scoring leads way

Another game, another double-double for Erika Davenport.

Davenport had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Marquette women’s basketball team to an 80-70 victory over Georgetown at the Al McGuire Center on Friday.

Davenport has 14 double-doubles this season.

The Golden Eagles (21-7, 12-5 Big East) clinched the No. 3 seeding in the conference tournament.

Natisha Hiedeman led MU in scoring with 18 points. Allazia Blockton, tops in the Big East at 17.3 points per game, added 17.

McKayla Yentz was the Golden Eagles’ fourth double-digit scorer with 14 points. MU swept the season series after an 84-77 win Dec. 30.

“What I love about our team is our balance right now,” MU coach Carolyn Kieger said. “I can’t say enough about everyone stepping up.”

Dorothy Adomako led the Hoyas (17-10, 9-8) with 21 points but needed 27 shots to get there. Dionna White and Faith Woodard added 18 points apiece.

MU will finish the regular season against Villanova at the Al McGuire Center on Sunday.
