MILWAUKEE BREWERS

Josh Hader is Brewers' mane man

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
The Brewers promoted pitcher Josh Hader from Colorado Springs.

“I got tired of having short hair." That's how Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Josh Hader explains why he's been growing out his curly blond locks for the past two years.

Annaliese Leon, a journalism student at Arizona State's Cronkite School, writes about Hader's hair and its maintenance in a new story on CactusLeagueWire.com. There's also a video by ASU's Sydney Cariel.

Writes Leon:

The long locks tend to have a mind of their own on a daily basis.

“Straight, wavy, curly, it has its own little outfit everyday I guess you could say,” Hader said.

With so much movement as a pitcher, the hair tends to sometimes get in the way. He recalled a windy day when “my hair smacked me in the eyeball.”

NOTE: For the seventh spring, a group of students from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, in partnership with the Journal Sentinel, are providing an outside-the-baselines look at the Brewers during training camp.
