Wahlberg in Detroit: Brady 'knows' who has jersey

Tony Paul, The Detroit News
Actor and Patriots fan Mark Wahlberg believes Tom Brady knows the whereabouts of his Super Bowl jersey.

Tom Brady's good pal, Mark Wahlberg, was in Detroit on Wednesday, checking in on his burger joint.

During the quick trip, WXYZ reporter Brad Galli tracked him down to talk about Brady and the New England Patriots' quarterback's missing Super Bowl jersey.

"No, I didn't take Tom Brady's jersey," Wahlberg told Galli. "He knows who has his shirt."

Brady's No. 12 jersey went missing from the NRG Park locker room following the Patriots' 34-28 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl IL earlier this month.

Houston Police valued the jersey at $500,000 in a report released earlier this week.

Brady, the former Michigan star, won his fifth Super Bowl ring, after trailing by 14 points early and 19 points entering the fourth quarter.

Wahlberg, the famous actor and Boston native, was at the Super Bowl but left early.

He told Galli he doesn't regret his decision.

"(Brady) was out playing Riveria (Country Club in L.A.) today," Wahlberg said Wednesday. "And they sent a picture and told my buddy who works at the golf course to give me crap cuz I left the Super Bowl.

"But he doesn't know what it's like when his son is melting down. I really got the best of both worlds. I got to be at the hotel by the time they won the game, so I didn't have to deal with traffic and the craziness.

"It was my wife's first football game ever, going to the Super Bowl, but it was awesome."

Wahlberg visited with staff at his Wahlburgers in Greektown. He is planning on opening more locations in Michigan, including in Grand Rapids, where he made a surprise trip to this week.
