  1. Because nobody read the terms.

    It has to be sold and shipped by Amazon, and in the case of multiple items in one order to reach $50, all must be shipped via the same method with the same expected arrival date.

  2. You could pick up $8.63 worth of cans on the side of the road in the time it takes to see if what you want is “sold by Amazon”. Most stuff isn’t. Books work. Or if you want a Kindle or Fire…..
