MADISON – Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst had to be grinning Monday.

UW extended scholarship offers to three in-state prospects Sunday – Waukesha Catholic Memorial linebacker C.J. Goetz, Kimberly defensive end Boyd Dietzen and Menomonie linebacker Mason Platter.

Roughly 24 hours later, all three had given UW oral commitments for the 2018 class.

All three players shared their decisions on Twitter, with Goetz kicking off the day.

"Coach Chryst is a tremendous guy and he has a great program going," Goetz said when asked about the trio's visit to UW on Sunday. "We all texted each other and talked about it last night. One of the things is getting in-state kids. That is huge."

Goetz, 6 feet 3 inches and 225 pounds, was a first-team all-state pick last season when he helped the Crusaders win the WIAA Division 3 title.

He reportedly recorded 103 tackles, including 11 for loss, last season. He also had four passes broken up, three fumble recoveries, an interception and a blocked punt.

Goetz had scholarship offers from Northern Illinois, North Dakota State, Bowling Green and New Mexico.

Kimberly's Boyd Dietzen chases Jordan Roen of Oshkosh North.

Dietzen, 6-3 and 240, recorded 16 sacks and 65 total tackles to help Kimberly win its third consecutive WIAA Division 1 state title last season.

He reportedly had offers from Minnesota, Iowa State, Syracuse and Northern Illinois.

“Proud and beyond excited to announce that I have committed to the University of Wisconsin to further my academic and athletic career!” Dietzen wrote on Twitter.

Platter, 6-5 and 215 pounds, had an offer from Northern Illinois.

“Officially announce my commitment to the University of Wisconsin,” Platter wrote on Twitter. “It is truly a dream come true.”

UW has six known commitments for the 2018 class.

They are: defensive back Reggie Pearson, River Rouge, Mich.; quarterback Ben Bryant, La Grange, Ill.; safety Trent Ingalls, Menasha; Goetz; Dietzen and Platter.
