MU women 96, DePaul 81: Eagles beat fourth Top 25 opponent

The Marquette women’s basketball team left no doubt about it.

And not just on the scoreboard.

The Golden Eagles proved once again that they can beat the top teams in the country by dismantling No. 15 DePaul, 96-81, Sunday at the Al McGuire Center.

It was the fourth victory of the season for the Golden Eagles against a Top 25 team.

The Golden Eagles (20-7, 11-5 Big East) hit the 20-win mark for the first time since 2013-’14. Additionally, the win marks the first time that MU has beat Big East power DePaul twice in one season since the 2003-’04 campaign.

Danielle King had a career-high 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting to lead the Golden Eagles. The Chicago native played the full 40 minutes and dished out a personal-best nine assists and also grabbed five rebounds.

Natisha Hiedeman and Erika Davenport scored 19 points apiece for MU and Allazia Blockton finished with 13 points.
