Trump urged to discuss dairy trade with Trudeau

The dairy industry is urging President Trump to discuss pricing and trade with Canada’s Prime Minister.  Justin Trudeau is meeting with Trump Monday about trade and renegotiation of NAFTA.

Major U.S. dairy groups all want Canada to stop a pricing system they say intentionally blocks U.S. dairy imports while allowing Canada to sell dairy ingredients below cost on the world market.

U.S. Dairy Export Council President Tom Vilsack says producers and processors have deep concerns about expanding the current Canadian system and want a fair and level trade relationship.

House Speaker Paul Ryan told Canada’s Foreign Minister last week the two countries must improve dairy market access.
