MU women 86, Xavier 71: Eagles keep it rolling

CINCINNATI – The Marquette women’s basketball team rolled to its second straight victory as sophomore Allazia Blockton reached 1,000 career points in a 86-71 win over Xavier on Sunday afternoon at the Cintas Center.

Blockton became the 25th player in the program’s history, and the youngest, to reach the milestone when she sank a jumper with 9 minutes 6 seconds in the third quarter.

Erika Davenport posted her Big East-best 13th double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (19-7, 10-5 Big East). Amani Wilborn also contributed 15 points, and McKayla Yentz added 13.

The Golden Eagles broke a 41-41 deadlock with 15-0 run in the third quarter on the way to shooting 60.6% in the second half.

The Musketeers (11-14, 3-11) had four players score in double figures, led by Madison Blackwell, who scored 20 points in the loss.
