Wright is not listed as a lettermen in Tennessee's media guide. However, the official 1997 guide lists Wright as a 6-foot, 275-pound sophomore defensive tackle from Memphis. He graduated from Memphis Catholic High School.

Here's the rest of the report from reporter Yolanda Jones of the Commercial Appeal:

"Police said Wright was walking southbound at Lamar Avenue at Bellevue when he was hit by the driver of a white tractor-trailer that was headed west on Lamar.

Wright was thrown into the air by the impact and hit the windshield of a 2012 Nissan Sentra.

He landed in the street, where he was then hit by a champagne-colored sedan headed east on Lamar. This driver and the driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop.

Police said the driver of the Nissan called police. This driver was ticketed for not having insurance.

Authorities are asking the public to come forward with any information regarding the suspects who fled."
