Cole Smith, who set state and program records in four seasons as Christian Academy of Knoxville's quarterback, committed to Princeton on Friday,

"I am blessed to say that I have committed to the admissions process at Princeton University," Smith said in a post on his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Smith is the second CAK quarterback to choose Princeton since 2011, joining Quinn Epperly.

He also considered Brown and Missouri State, of the Football Championship Subdivision.

"I had preferred walk-on chances for (Division I), but Princeton is the best fit for me," Smith told the News Sentinel. "Football has been my way to get into arguable the best school academically in the country.

"Not to mention they are coming off an Ivy League Championship, great coaches, and I have a chance to compete in my early years."

Smith became the state's all-time leader in career passing yardage this season, upping his total to 11,032. The two-time Class 3A Mr. Football semifinalist also established career state records for total yards (11,763), passing attempts (1,297) and completions (844).

As a senior, he completed 154 of 262 passes for 2,015 yards and 19 TDs before suffering a season-ending right shoulder injury.

"I did have surgery and I'm on the road to recovery," Smith said. "I could be good right at the end of basketball season. Just being patient."

Frizzell Picks UTC: Hardin Valley senior running back/linebacker Tim Frizzell committed to Chattanooga on Friday.

He announced the news on his Twitter account.

Frizzell, 6-2, 225, made 101 tackles as a senior, including six tackles for loss and three sacks as the Hawks advanced to the Class 6A quarterfinals for the first time in school history.
