TripAdvisor poll: Pigeon Forge a top city 'on the rise'

Sevier County got some good news this week to help offset the impact of the recent wildfires: TripAdvisor readers ranked Pigeon Forge as the No. 8 "Destination on the Rise."

Expanding on the Readers Choice Award for the Sevier County city, the travel website noted Pigeon Forge "is a gateway to 500 thousand acres of Appalachian wilderness" and added, "If hiking over 800 miles of mountain trails and camping in dense, ancient forests isn't your thing, head over to Dollywood for a different sort of fun."

TripAdvisor listed Dollywood, Titanic Museum Attraction and Rockin' Raceway Arcade as "don't miss" attractions and then listed more than 200 other things to do in Pigeon Forge.

Readers voted Kihei, a town on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, as the No. 1 "Destination on the Rise."
