Madison— The University of Wisconsin hockey team couldn’t get over the hump Friday night.

After battling back to forge ties twice, the Badgers dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 7 Minnesota in a Border Battle at the Kohl Center.

Justin Kloos gave the Golden Gophers (14-5-2, 6-1-0-0 Big Ten) a victory with a goal at 1 minute, 43 seconds of the extra session. The tally was reviewed by the officials, but it held up.

Wisconsin (10-8-1, 3-2-0-0) tied the game at 3-3 with 10:39 to go in the final period when the puck deflected off Trent Frederic’s leg and past Minnesota goalie Eric Schierhorn.
