Aaron Rodgers dealing with minor illness

GREEN BAY – It isn’t quite a strained calf like two years ago, but Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is dealing with less than ideal health entering the NFC championship game at the Atlanta Falcons.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers played another stellar game on Sunday.

Rodgers enters Sunday’s game with an illness that isn’t even severe enough to land him on the Packers' injury report. But the quarterback said he’ll focus on getting plenty of “rest, fluids, all that stuff” before playing 60 minutes in Atlanta.

Rodgers’ illness could be worse. Receiver Jordy Nelson missed Thursday’s practice because of an illness. Of course, Rodgers also was limited in the 2014 NFC championship game with a strained calf.

This is significantly less serious.

“We’ll be OK,” Rodgers said. “It’s kind of going around. I know Jordy had it. Mason (Crosby) had it. I got it. We’re going to be OK and deal with it.”

For a team ravaged by injuries at certain points this season, it’s just another piece of adversity. Fourteen players made their way onto the Packers' injury report this week, compared to just four for the Falcons. Nelson (ribs), receiver Davante Adams (ankle), receiver Geronimo Allison (hamstring), safety Morgan Burnett (quad) and cornerback Quinten Rollins (neck/concussion) all were listed as questionable.

If Nelson, Adams and Allison are unable to play, the Packers would have a thin receiving depth chart. They would call on Jeff Janis and rookie Trevor Davis to play more snaps, something they did when Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb missed the Packers' game in Atlanta earlier this season.

Rodgers said he has no concerns if Janis and Davis played a bigger role.

“Very comfortable,” Rodgers said. “We’ve played, what, 18 games so far? We’ve got a lot of continuity there. I have no reservations about them playing if they can’t practice.”
